Donald Trump has been the talk of the town since the day he started his reign as the President of the most developed economy, United States of America. Taking into consideration his radical decisions on illegal immigrants or any other policy, he has never been in the good books of media. His nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court has raised everyone’s eyebrows. Dan Urman, a Supreme Court expert at Northeastern University asserted that Brett Kavanaugh is about to make a far greater impression on the direction of American society than Trump’s first appointment.
Assuming Kavanaugh’s records suggest him of consistently conservative ruler capable of making sweeping changes in abortion rights, gun ownership, voting rights, and more. Trump’s first appointment wasn’t a swap between two cross minded judges: Neil Gorsuch to replace the late Justice Antonin Scalia. It was quite alike to like conservative judge swap. However, this time, the judge being replaced is Anthony Kennedy. Anthony, well- known for his conservative approach didn’t even hesitate in providing the swing vote on hot-button social issues in the past. Frequently ruled with more liberal colleagues on such issues as abortion, guns, voting rights, and the death penalty, Kennedy was appointed by President Ronald Reagan in the year 1987.
As Urman suggests, Kavanaugh’s appointment will lead to a consistent 5-4 split favouring a conservative interpretation of the Constitution. The appointment of Kavanaugh was quite astonishing to many observers. These opinion-makers couldn’t digest if his long and varied service in the federal government can provide considerable ammunition for opponents determined to slow or derail the nomination or not. Urman wasn’t even an inch skeptical while claiming, “For a president who wants to ‘drain the swamp, Kavanaugh is a very big swamp creature —a friendly one, but very much a part of the establishment.”
