The history of human civilisation has always been tarnished by the history of woman suppression. To rephrase the words of Karl Marx, history of all hitherto existing societies is the history of woman suppression. There is always an explanation for the supposed inferiority of women in social life. Some say they are by nature, weak. Some sight evolution to be the determining factor and some like Jordon Peterson claim that the psychology of women itself shows that men and women evolved in such a manner that they perform differentiated tasks. Traditionally, men have always remained the dominant gender in the field of physical work and leadership. Women are believed to be inferior compared to men for taking tough decisions, by the virtue of their sympathetic attitude.
However, the modern world with its entire rebellious attitude towards traditional notions is breaking all the barriers of gender stereotype and discrimination. Women are expanding their wings in multiple horizons, be it sports, entertainment, leadership or academia. By the liberalisation of world affairs and growth of liberal democracy which gives Universal adult franchise, women and men are measured on equal footing, be it in social, political or economic affairs. One such recent example is San Antonio Spurs, who made history by becoming NBA’s first full-time female assistant coach. Justine Siegal from Northeastern University writes on the issue of woman empowerment that all that women need for growth and upliftment is an opportunity. They have all the caliber required. There is no need for special reservations; all that is demanded is that they are given equality and freedom from discrimination.
Women and men are the product of the same nature. Only in their liberation can a nation find its true development. In contemporary times, there is a growing need to create solidarity among the people as a global citizen and these mere diversions and differentiations are never going to be of any use.
